NH Food Bank

For many people Food Insecurity as defined by the USDA is the lack of access to enough food for an active, healthy life due to limited financial resources.  Food Insecurity  effects  1 in 10 NH residents and 1 in 7 NH children.  When people do not get adequate nutrition,   their physical and mental health suffers.

As the only food bank in the state the NH Food Bank works to ensure that all Granite Staters have access to the food and resources they need to thrive with the ultimate goal of eliminating food insecurity in NH.

NH Food Bank distributes nutritious food to the Peterborough food pantry and to more than 400 agency partners throughout the state which in addition to food pantries, includes homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs and senior centers.  Their federal funding was cut by one million dollars as of March 25.  Given the economic situation in the state, the concern is that more people will experience food insecurity.

The NH Food Bank will be the special collection for April.
