Project Home (www.projecthomenh.org)  is the PUUC Special Collection recipient for October.  In 2019, people in Keene formed a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization to provide financial, legal, housing, and supportive help to asylum seekers.   When they first arrive in the U.S., asylum seekers are not legally allowed to work, until certain papers have been processed.  There are often long delays in the processing of these papers.

When an asylum seeker becomes a guest of Project Home they initially receive financial assistance, housing, and legal services from Project Home volunteers to accomplish these goals. Other services provided include transportation, English language training, coordination with the children’s school, and help in understanding the cultural differences here from their countries of origin. Several of our members have helped with families.
